At the landmark Bay Pavilion on Seattle’s Pier 57, W.G. Clark has completed a phased renovation. Work has included seismic and structural upgrades, improvements to entries and restrooms, the addition of stairs, an elevator, new escalator and ADA lift, photo kiosks, the construction of the heavy timber loading platform for the Great Wheel, and the renovation and expansion of the Fishermans Restaurant, including new outdoor decks and glass folding walls.
The project is a prime example of making major changes without affecting the ambiance of this classic Seattle waterfront retail complex, where the new elements were designed to look like they had always been there. Work was done primarily at night to minimize the impact on businesses, and spaces remained fully operational throughout the construction. Meeting the challenges of logistics and safety that come with remodeling a 100-year-old building that moves with the seabed of Puget Sound, W.G. Clark’s project team developed and implemented innovative solutions throughout the renovation process.
