Bloom is a four-story mixed-use apartment complex in Kirkland’s Rose Hill neighborhood. The project includes a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments on three levels over one level of parking. A single-story commercial space occupies the street level, along with new public and private outdoor space.
A featured sculpture by a local artist is displayed at the main entrance of the building. The building has proportionally scaled materials and textures, vibrant and native landscaping, and plenty of benches and bike storage. Materials include metal panel siding, modular brick, architectural concrete, and storefront windows.
This project featured extensive right-of-way utility work, including the addition of sewer and water main extensions. W.G. Clark's work on Bloom included a 1,770 cubic yard stormwater detention vault beneath the parking garage. Installation of the vault was complex due to the garage’s limited vertical space and weight-bearing requirements. W.G. Clark addressed this challenge with careful consideration of the garage’s integrity, implementing creative solutions for material transport and placement.
