Tapestry is a seven-story, mixed-use development located at the vibrant intersection of Seattle’s International District, Central District and Yesler Terrace. The building includes two levels of underground parking with 120 stalls, and features ground floor retail and restaurant spaces. Residents can enjoy a wide range of amenity spaces including a game room, theater, library, co-working spaces, dog run, and two BBQ stations on the rooftop deck. The building stands out for its incorporation of work from several local artists, both inside and out, enhancing its character and celebrating community.
Tapestry was constructed with a combination of Type 5A and 3A building methods, and the SE tower is connected by a three-hour rated skybridge. The groundwork required over 1,000 geopiers, a soil-anchor system, and a 30-inch-thick mat slab. Excavation of the garage was complex due to high groundwater levels, contaminated soils, and the constraint of not being able to extend tiebacks onto adjacent properties. W.G. Clark addressed these challenges with a wellpoint dewatering system and rakers, and also self-performed the structural concrete work to successfully complete Tapestry.
