The North Campus project features Spratlen, McCarty, and Oliver Halls, offering 1,977 apartment-style beds on a 12-acre site. These new buildings set a new standard for amenity-rich campus living. Oliver Hall’s lower floor alone houses one acre of dining and a full commissary kitchen for catering to the entire campus.
After construction was well underway, the North Campus schedule was extensively modified to add early occupancy of Oliver Hall to host participants in the 2018 Special Olympics. Our team worked with various jurisdictional inspectors on safety measures to allow occupancy while the remaining construction was still in progress. Through the team’s intense collaboration, the University successfully hosted the Special Olympics participants. This phased completion approach involved opening Oliver Hall for use while adjacent sections of the complex remained under active construction, creating a unique situation of a fully occupied building alongside ongoing work.
