Our Special Projects Group performed a major occupied renovation for Columbia Lutheran Home and their nursing care residents, building on similar projects for this repeat client. Renovation on this phase covered 33,000 SF of space, with a total of 56 remodeled skilled nursing rooms.

W.G. Clark worked on a design-build basis, defining and prioritizing project scope with the client for maximum value and long-term durability. Changes included hospital-grade infection control finishes, ADA upgrades, window replacement, and full mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire sprinkler upgrades in all rooms, as well as eight new restrooms and a new 2,500 SF occupational and physical therapy suite. All new packaged terminal air conditioning units with fresh air exchange were installed, requiring the replacement of cladding after the installation of each unit. Our in-house building envelope specialist oversaw this portion of the work.

Stringent Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) plans were followed, including erecting air-tight barricades for implementing negative pressure rooms to protect vulnerable residents. Fourteen phases of moving residents in and out of rooms required W.G. Clark’s top-notch coordination to complete the full renovation.
