The Commons
    Seattle, WA
    Mixed-use

The Commons is an innovative mixed-use development with two contemporary, companion buildings of five and six stories with 80 distinctive apartments and four two-bedroom townhomes that front Ballard Commons Park. W.G. Clark’s Special Projects Group built out the entire two-story, 23,000 SF office space for Gravity Payments as well as the 14,000 SF Bartell Drugs, the anchor retail tenant. The Commons includes courtyard areas, a central lobby activated by residential, retail and office users, landscaping, and rooftop decks on both buildings. The eco-friendly project collects and reuses rainwater for all irrigation, features a recycling and compost system and low-flow plumbing fixtures to reduce water use by 42%, and it’s expected to use 35% less energy than a traditional building through high efficiency windows, a reverse cycle chiller to heat hot water, master shutoff switches for residential units, and rooftop solar panels.

The Commons allows residential, office, and essential retail to work together within the same resource-conscious footprint. The community has met LEED Platinum level certification – the highest level of design and construction performance under the U.S. Green Building Council.
